Bridging the “Missing Link” in Wastewater Data – An Interview with Simon Gordon
In a newly released video interview, Simon Godon, a researcher at Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech), details how the PIPEON project is transforming the digital future of wastewater management.
According to Godon, the primary challenge facing water utilities today is that data for sewer infrastructure is often sparse, outdated, and unreliable. This lack of high-quality information represents the “missing link” that prevents Digital Twins—virtual replicas of physical systems, from becoming truly actionable and reliable for real-world operations.
Godon also highlights the importance of events like Water Market Europe, where researchers, utilities, and industry stakeholders converge. He emphasizes that such collaboration is essential to ensure that the robotics and AI tools developed by PIPEON solve the actual operational challenges faced by the water sector today.
By integrating robotic sensing with intelligent data analysis, PIPEON is ensuring that the “unseen” infrastructure beneath our cities is no longer a data blind spot.
